A Call to Freedom!

Close your eyes. Then point a finger at a globe. Open them again. What do you see?

Most likely the place you are pointing at is a dictatorship.

There are 193 sovereign United Nations member states in the world. Yet the majority of these states demonstrate limited political and civil freedoms.

Most of them are led by oligarchs or as I call them, oli-Ogres who were not chosen in transparent elections. Many of them have repressive state security apparatus and countless political prisoners.

Azerbaijan is one of the most obvious examples of those states.

Azerbaijan, a country with a long history, rich culture and abundant resources, yet diseased with a tyrannical political system. A system that does not respect fundamental, inalienable rights bestowed upon every citizen of the world.

A regime that has stolen more from the citizens of Azerbaijan than has provided for them and protected them. On the contrary, the current regime has delivered insecurity, guaranteed poverty and established licentious system of government.

A big portion of Azerbaijani population is living under abject poverty, with limited legal rights. Although, many individuals are patient and most are enduring the current regime, none of them are free agents in their country. They are prisoners and victims of the political power structures. Endurance and patience became the scarlet letter of Azerbaijani population. Perhaps because they have learned to live with it. Or rather that’s the only way they know.

However, in most circumstances, they are too afraid to do something about it. They are afraid to be assaulted, imprisoned and in many cases killed. This is the real face of tyranny. The real face of a state with decayed fundamental human rights. Fear to do something about it.

We live in the age of globalization, the age of internet and creating an extended network to disseminate information among the citizens of not just one community, one society or one country but to reach every citizen of the world. In this new age, we call on the people of the world to create a dialogue to solve the most significant problems that we currently face. One of them being the parasitic seize of the world by tyrannical regimes, such as in Azerbaijan.

We call the citizens of Azerbaijan to stop their continuous sacrifices and endurance of this regime.

We call the citizens of the world to show their support to defend the most suppressed and the most significant human right.

To be free.

Because this issue is not simply the issue of Azerbaijan, it is a global issue.

By showing support we are ensuring a better future for us all, united we should stand as the citizens of the world.
