Freedom is not Free
What Price Freedom?
It is what we cannot buy, but what we earn,
But tell me please, from it, what do we learn?
Freedom is not free, it only means ‘to be free’,
If freedom is not free, then can anyone tell me what’s the fee?
Did this freedom get us anything at all?
Hell yes! It caused slavery to fall! !
It woke us from our long long slumber,
To realization and education-our freedom number;
Our ancestors fought for our freedom,
No battleground, no war, they have not seen! !
But is it so cruel some and gruesome,
To imagine where they have been? ?
They have all been through hell,
To get what we call ‘freedom’ today;
Though drenched in blood they rang the bell,
For doors to open and let freedom our way;
Freedom is not free, for now you can see! !
Can any of us tell how much freedom cost?
It’s difficult isn’t it? , to count the number of lives that were tossed? ?
Or is it easy to weigh the amount of blood lost?
Will it ever uncover the cost? ?
Freedom is not free, ‘Coz it’s not just about you and me! !
You haven’t seen the war before,
‘Coz at that time neither you nor I were born,
But trust me it was full of gore,
And if I were there, to pieces I would have torn;
The happiness we get when we are freed,
Is just the result of our locked up greed;
To see the outside world,
And hope that it’s not grown old! !
Isn’t it just time to realize?
The freedom won by those great guys? ?
Or are we just going to sit back and take it for granted?
For the story of the past is less interesting and not what we wanted? ?
If it was not for them, today we are not free,
For we would just be in someone else’s custody! !
The cost of the freedom we enjoy today, is their lives
Isn’t it time we repay them, by using it wise? ?
Freedom was never ever free,
It’s something we could never trade for!
And unless we struggle for thee,
We will always see a locked door! !
Freedom is not free, it only means ‘to be free’,
If freedom is not free, then can anyone tell me what’s the fee? ..
